The cast of CBS’s hit show, The Big Bang Theory, bid a tearful farewell to Carol Ann Susi, the woman who voiced the character of Mrs Wolowitz last November . However, the writers were still unsure what to do with Mrs Wolowitz’s role after Susi’s death. While they did have the option of continuing with Mrs Wolowitz’s character and hire another woman to voice her, they decided against it and hence Mrs Wolowitz’s character was killed off in the show. They each remember her for a different reasons and her habits that they had found annoying when she was alive (like her shouting and complaining about the doorbell) is missed by them now that she is gone. It’s indeed a sad farewell, well, at least as sad as sitcom farewells can be. You can watch the characters of show raise a toast to Mrs Wolowitz here:
On the The Big Bang Theory, Mrs Wolowitz wasn’t seen on camera as the mother of Simon Helberg’s character, Howard, but her character’s loud voice with a Brooklyn accent was instantly recognizable and as the show bids farewell to her character here are some of our favourite Mrs Wolowitz moments on the show: 1. The time she guilt-tripped Raj into staying over and taking Howard’s place was definitely one of the most entertaining episodes of the show. Raj realises his folly when he does Howard a favour and grabs dinner with his mom only to be held captive by Mrs Wolowitz. She gives him a bath, makes him wear Howard’s red, silk pajamas and hides his keys in her bosom.
2. Mrs Wolowitz and Bernadette vie for Howard’s attention as they both make him breakfast together. Bernadette also goes on to holler exactly like Mrs Wolowitz making for some exciting back and forth banter between the two.
3. When she takes Sheldon shopping and enlists his help to zip her into her dress. She then laments over all the men who used to line up for her and buy her chocolate.
4. The time when Howard comes back after his big mission to space only to find his mother at home entertaining a gentleman caller. Howard is definitely not pleased.
5. And the countless times she and Howard would argue over who will answer the phone.
