To accept the award, the show’s creator, executive producer and writer Joe Weisberg thanked the cast, crew and the team at FX. “This was a show about a marriage and that’s what we want people to think about and look back on that we explored and wrote about and acted and directed. . The FX series about Cold War espionage, which wrapped its sixth and final season in May 2018, has received five Golden Globe nominations during its run. The Americans is a period drama about the complex marriage of two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington DC during the Reagan administration.
