The matrimonial section of the Tuesday edition of The Times newspaper had a rather interesting announcement. “The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire, and Rose, middle daughter of Sebastian and Candy Leslie of Aberdeenshire.”

Mail Online reports that the two stars followed in the footsteps of fellow actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter who revealed they were engaged through a newspaper announcement.

Kit and Rose are believed to have dated off and on since 2012, when they met on the sets of Game of Thrones, where he plays Jon Snow, and she played the wildling Ygritte. Their onscreen romance seemed to have spilled over into real life as well. The actors confirmed that they are living together, in mid-2016.

Twitterati went into meltdown as soon as the news of Kit and Rose’s engagement broke on the microblogging site. A myriad range of memes populated the Twitter timeline of users across the world, as GoT buffs expressed their shock at the reported development.
