Deepika Padukone, who has been in the headlines for her exit from Spirit and Kalki 2, has collaborated with Meta to become the new voice of its AI version, which will be used in six countries, including India, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
Sharing a video which featured the actress recording her voice in a studio for Meta AI, Deepika said in a post, “Hi, I am Deepika Padukone. I am the new voice of Meta AI. So tap the ring and my voice will run out.”
“Okay, so this is pretty cool I think! I’m now part of Meta AI and you can chat with my voice in English across India, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand,” she wrote while sharing the video.
Interestingly, during her initial phase of her acting career, filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan, who launched her with Shah Rukh Khan starrer Om Shanti Om, said that her voice was not apt and a voice-over artist dubbed her dialogues.
Talking about Deepika’s nervousness at that time, Farah said while talking to Mukesh Chhabra, “She was very nervous. Aur uska naa problem hota tha uski voice tabhi bohot kharab thi. Aur diction was a typical that Karnatak ka Bangalore ka that South ka diction. Uska voice aur woh… Toh main audition dekhti thi naa, toh the voice used to disturb me. So main sound off karke dekhti thi uska look test. Toh sound off karke face, you’re dancing and all, beautiful. Matlab Hema ji mere ko bilkul woh… humne Dreamy Girl rakha hi uska naam kyunki she reminded me of Hema ji. Toh woh look test tha, but more or less I decided ki main isko hi lene waali hun.”
While many netizens called her voice robotic on social media after watching her films, the actress has broken another stereotype with her new achievement.
