In a sad piece of news for all the beauty pageant fans out there, former Miss World Contestant, Sherika De Armas left for a heavenly abode on 13 October. If a report in the New York Post is to be believed, the model was suffering from cervical cancer for some time. She reportedly also underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy before dying at a young age of 26 years. For those who do not know, Sherika De Armas represented her country, Uruguay in the Miss World competition back in 2015. The sudden demise of Sherika De Armas has left the entire country of Uruguay in shock. Her brother, Mayk’De Armas took to his social media account and paid tribute to his late sister, “Fly high, little sister. Always and forever.” Current Miss Uruguay Carla Romero also wrote an Instagram note that loosely translates to, “Too evolved for this world. One of the most beautiful women I’ve met in my life, on the outside it’s obvious but on the inside you don’t imagine. I’m not one to share these types of moments on social media but y’all already know…”
Several others also expressed their grief through social media. It must be noted here that Sherika De Armas also had her own make-up line with the name Shey de Armas Studio. They make products related to hair and personal care. In addition to this, a lot of her time was also devoted to the Perez Scremini Foundation, which helps children suffering from cancer. During the Miss World 2015 contest, Sherika De Armas failed to make it to the list of the top 30 contestants, however, she gained a lot of popularity during the event. She revealed during the competition that she always wanted to be a model, whether it was a beauty model, an advertising model, or a catwalk model. Sherika De Armas further revealed that she was fond of every aspect related to the fashion world. She was quoted as saying, “I am very happy to be able to live this experience full of challenges.”
