Former Karnataka chief minister and Karnataka state Janata Dal (secular) chief HD Kumaraswamy launched his son Nikhil Kumar’s career in style. Nikhil is the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and is debuting as an actor with the bilingual Jaguar in Kannada and Telugu. The big launch took place in a Hyderabad five star last Sunday, in the presence of south Indian film bigwigs like Allu Aravind, Suresh Babu, C Kalyan, KS Rama Rao and politician businessman Subbarami Reddy. The first teaser of Nikhil Kumar’s action packed Jaguar was released at the function. The teaser of the film looks interesting with rich production values and is the perfect launch pad for Nikhil Kumar. By the trailer, it is clear that Nikhil is trying to get into the action hero slot in Kannada movies. In fact, the teaser cut is totally focussed on Nikhil and the action scenes. Kumaraswamy’s idea is to launch his son as a mass hero, because commercial entertainers still rule the Kannada movie-watching markets. Most of the new wave Kannada films are only targeting the Bangalore multiplex audiences. He is also coming back to movies after a decade, by producing his son’s debut film. Jaguar is said to be a big budget action entertainer laced with emotions and romance. The story and screenplay has been written by Vijayendra Prasad, the father of leading director SS Rajamouli and is directed by his former associate Mahadev. Vijayendra Prasad is the writer of mega blockbuster Baahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijan. The veteran writer is now on a hat trick with Jaguar. Jaguar has Mumbai-based model Deepti Sati playing the female lead and in the supporting cast are Jagapathi Babu, Brahmanadam, Sadhu Kokila and Sampath Raj. The film has well known technicians like noted cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa, editor Antony Ruben and has music by SS Thaman . Speaking exclusively to Firstpost after the launch, Kumaraswamy said: “It is one of the happiest days in my life, as almost the entire shoot of Jaguar is over. All important persons came here to bless me and my son Nikhil. He has no interest in politics and wanted to be a hero right from his younger days.” Kumaraswamy added, “My banner Chennambika Films had produced six films in the past and distributed over 100 films in Karnataka area. I have the best technicians working on Jaguar, which is a big budget film. It was Vijayendra Prasad who advised me to make it as a bilingual in Kannada and Telugu, to give it a bigger market. The shooting of the film is almost complete, except for two songs, we are planning to release the film on October 7 for the Dasra festival weekend.”
