Jackie Chan is back, and how.

Apart from a disappointing Kung Fu Yoga and lending his voice to the character of Monkey in the Kung Fu Panda series, Chan has not starred in an international film for a long time.

The legendary Hong Kong martial artist, fresh off a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Oscars this year, makes his return to the spotlight with Foreigner.

The film is based on the 1992 novel The Chinaman; Chan plays an avenging father, Quan. Quan loses his daughter in a bombing and seeks justice against the rogue Irish bombers who took her from him. Pierce Brosnan plays Gerry Adams, a government official who Quan goes to for information about the bombers. Adams refuses to help him, which sends the former special forces agent on the path of one-man motivated revenge.

The film is directed by James Bond director Martin Campbell, who has worked with Brosnan previously on Bond films Casino Royale and Goldeneye.

From the looks of the first trailer, Foreigner almost resembles Liam Neeson's Taken series: a father, with a set of 'special skill' is out to get revenge because of his daughter. But what sets this trailer apart is that the action sequences on the film are gritter, brutal and more fast-paced as compared to Taken. The soundtrack of the film too, gets stuck in your head.

The film is all set to release on 13 October and will be going up against biopic Marshall and horror film Happy Death Day.
