First look: Priyanka Chopra has piled on the muscles for Mary Kom biopic

The poster for Priyanka Chopra’s upcoming film Mary Kom, a bio-pic of India’s Olympic medalist is now out and has generated a lot of buzz online. Mary Kom was a top trend on Facebook India and #MaryKomFirstLook is also one of the top trends on Twitter India. The poster shows an incredibly muscular Priyanka Chopra in the midst of landing what looks like a very serious punch. While she’s carrying the role of the boxer to the hilt (at least visually) we can’t help but wonder…where in the world did those muscles come from? The last time we saw Priyanka was at an event in Mumbai in Blue Frog, where she didn’t look anywhere that beefy. You can check out those images  here. In fact, someone asked Priyanka on Twitter as to how she got such muscles and that too so suddenly. Priyanka replied on Twitter saying It was “2 years of training baby.” We’re not sure why the training results weren’t so visible last May. For once, we’re not got a female actor looking pretty or just another item girl on a poster, while the men seem to be doing all the fun action stuff. She does make for a different and refreshing sight, though that given this is a biopic on Mary Kom who is a boxer, we’ve couldn’t have expected anything else from the poster. Priyanka has put out two tweets with the new posters of the film. Interestingly the social media team for the film also seems to be using the hashtag #FightlikeaGirl. We’re guessing they’re trying to subvert the usage of this phrase which doesn’t always favour women. Check out the tweets by Priyanka below including her replies to some reactions:
