First look: Nana Patekar-starrer Marathi film 'Natsamrat' is a dream project

This is a time when a Marathi film can make its presence felt up against a Bollywood blockbuster. Weeks back, we had seen how a Marathi film Katiyar Kaljat Ghusli made waves at the box office inspite of Salman Khan-starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo . And now, there is another offering from the Marathi film industry — Natsamrat, which has started creating quite a buzz.

It’s based on a famous Marathi play by the same name. One of the biggest attraction for a larger audience beyond regional limitation is Nana Patekar, the protagonist of the play, who is also playing the lead in the film.

The film’s promotion started with its first look  launch on Wednesday, however, Nana Patekar, personally started promoting the film since his last release Welcome Back, months ago.

“When I saw this play 50 years back, I was 15-year-old, Dr. Shreeram Lagoo played that character, and since that very first time I saw that, I wanted to play that character. So it was there lingering inside,” he said.

Giving a sneak preview of Natsamrat, Nana Patekar said, “Natsamrat is a measurement. This is the measurement to see how good he is so that he can be called an ‘actor’. One who can do Natsamrat he is an actor at par. We had a very dedicated team so we could complete the film in just 35 days.”
