First look from the new Wolverine film is here; Poster reveals title 'Logan'

Our favourite mutant is coming to back on screens. Hugh Jackman just dropped some news about the new Wolverine film that will be releasing in 2017. This will be his third and final performance as Wolverine and the title isn’t Wolverine: Weapon X as it was rumoured to be before. Jackman tweeted out a photo of the poster featuring the title Logan and the film’s 3 March 2017 release date. The poster is a close-up of Wolverine’s hand, claws protruding, holding the hand of a child. 20th Century Fox has not officially stated much of anything about the film’s plot, but if the rumors are to be believed then that hand likely belongs to X-23, Wolverine’s fierce female clone.

The title itself rings a couple of bells from the character’s history. Logan is the name Wolverine took on after leaving Weapon X. It was later revealed his real name was James Howlett. It is also rumoured that the title Logan may be a shortening of the comic book Old Man Logan. This is the premise of the first of the eight part comic book: In an alternate, desolate future where most of the world’s superheroes were killed and villains have taken over the world: Wolverine is an old man who hasn’t used his powers in the last 50 years and lives a quiet life — until his old friend Hawkeye hires him for a dangerous job that will take him across the Four Kingdoms in the new America. Logan is directed by The Wolverine director James Mangold and stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Eriq La Salle and Elise Neal. Mangold has directed Jackman in The Wolverine (2003), tweeted an image of the script’s second page. In it, Wolverine drops an F-bomb while getting his ass kicked by a group called “the Bangers.” Empire provided the whole transcript on their website too.

Ryan Reynolds who plays Deadpool in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and often collaborates with Wolverine in the comic books thought he should point out how the the baby’s hand in the Logan poster looks like his hand from Deadpool. Here’s the tweet:
