Time flies when you’re not starving. After the success of The Hunger Games last year, Lionsgate has wasted no time on getting part two ready. [caption id=“attachment_700402” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Courtesy: Facebook[/caption] Directed by Francis Lawrence and scripted by Oscar winners Simon Beaufoy and Michael Arndt, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is one of the most eagerly-anticipated films of this year. What can we tell from the fact that the director of Constantine and I Am Legend has teamed up with the writers of Slumdog Millionaire and Little Miss Sunshine? Catching Fire is likely to have great fight sequences, lots of drama and some wonderful, neurotic characters. In short, part two of The Hunger Games should be very entertaining. The trailer doesn’t give away too much and has some chilling moments — the district 11 scene, for instance — one rushed kiss, and the promise of much terrible cruelty. Despite being one of the two winners, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) has no time to cool her heels. President Snow (Donald Sutherland) wants her dead and he’s got an oily ally in Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman). The two of them plot to destroy not just Katniss, but virtually anyone who finds in themselves the courage to stand up to the Capitol. Those who have read the books will know precisely what the evil twosome are planning. Whether or not you’ve read the books, nothing good can come of the President cheerfully observing, “Her entire species must be eradicated.” Watch the trailer here:
