The first look for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s next film, Sarabjit -- a tell-all biopic on the Indian convict who died in a Pakistan jail – is out! Aishwarya has started shooting for the film and as the photos suggest the actress is sporting a de-glam look for the biopic.

Aishwarya is playing Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur, while Randeep Hooda will be seen in the titular role. The shooting began this week in Mumbai. A picture from the set showed Aishwarya dressed as an aged woman, wearing spectacles.

“We have started filming and would like to first say that, the picture is already out and I am very thankful for the response… It has been very encouraging, even for the choice of subject. Work has begun and it is (the film) intense,” the 41-year-old actress told reporters during an award function in Mumbai.

The film is being directed by Omung Kumar, whose Mary Kom had received critical acclaim. The biopic also stars Richa Chadha and Darshan Kumar and the film is slated to release on 20 May, 2016. According to reports premiere for the film is scheduled at Cannes Film Festival.

“We chose Aishwarya to essay the role of Dalbir because of her dedication to the craft. She has a lot of interest and worked together with the team to play a de-glam bespectacled Dalbir Kaur. When she came out of the caron the whole unit was stunned as they just couldn’t see a single bit of Aishwarya in the character,”  DNA quoted the producer for the film Sandeep Singh as saying.
