On this edition of First Lady, actor Juhi Chawla recalls the contribution of female figures in her life. She spells out some of her inspirations from yesteryear actors like Mumtaz, Sridevi and Padmini Kolahpure. She transports the viewers to a time on the sets when there used to be no women except the heroine.
Though she says that women have now been welcomed to work behind the scenes on the sets, she believes that women are still not respected on screen.
Besides the majority of male-dominated films and the pay disparity in the film industry, Chawla also expresses her contention towards skin show and women objectification.
She lauds filmmaker Kunal Kohli, who was an Radio Jockey back then, for showing his concerns towards women being called 'item girls' in films.
