If you were to compile a list of this year’s most-awaited films, Cyrus Adajania’s Finding Fanny would definitely top it. The film has many things going for it — the fresh pairing of Deepika Padukone and Arjun Kapoor, the setting in Goa, the plot based on a journey to find lost love and Naseeruddin Shah and Pankaj Kapur in the same frame. This film could well be a definitive guide to what ‘quirky’ should mean and look like in Bollywood.
And now, the makers have released the first song from the film, with a fun video to go with it. The video has parts from the film’s trailer interspersed by a footage from an audio-visual shot exclusively for the film. The song, titled Fanny Re, seems like the theme song of the film as the trailer too had snatches of the song it.
The video shows Deepika Padukone looking stunning in a cropped top and skirt lip syncing to the song and busting some crazy moves. The video also has the rest of the cast singing along and dancing like they are in a mad house - reliving your memories of the crazy Christmas eve party where everyone had had a drink too many.
However, it is Dimple Kapadia who steals the show in the video. Dressed in a figure-hugging sheath dress which shows off her ample curves, Kapadia is seen shaking her booty to the crazy beats of the song. Apart from turning the temperature of the video by quite a few notches, she also emotes spectacularly well, channeling quirkiness and crazy energy which seems to be an important aspect of the character she plays in the film.
The characters, it seems, are supposed to make loony faces in the video. While most of them get it right, Deepika continues looking pristinely pretty and fashion magazine cover worthy while she attempts to look funny.
The video has been conceptualised and choreographed by Shiamak Davar. He told in an exclusive interview to Deccan Chronicle , “It was great fun choreographing the video as the cast included legends like Pankaj Kapoor, Nasseruddin Shah and Dimple Kapadia along with two of today’s biggest superstars Deepika (Padukone) and Arjun Kapoor)! And through the choreography, I wanted to bring out each one’s character and their own personality. For me, this was one of the most fun videos I’ve worked on!”
