Fifty Shades Darker teaser: 'Intrigued?' asks Christian Grey; yes, we definitely are
Second helping of EL James erotic bestseller, Fifty Shades Darker, is going to be released on the Valentine's day weekend of 2017.
It's just 19 seconds, but it's one heck of a clip. The first look for the new 50 Shades Darker film is out, which will debut in cinemas on the Valentine's Day weekend in 2017.
Fifty Shades Darker is the sequel to the 2015's Fifty Shades of Grey, with Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan returning as the protagonists in the film. The film is the second in the series based on the hit erotic novel trilogy penned by EL James.
Earlier this year, Dakota Johnson revealed in Interview Magazine that she was tired of filming racy sex scenes for Fifty Shades Darker, saying “Well, we’re not having actual sex. But I’ve been simulating sex for seven hours straight right now, and I’m over it.”
Johnson also told the magazine that despite the hard work she has put into the film, there is no way that her father, Don Johnson (the actor who played Sonny in the TV series Miami Vice), will catch a screening of Fifty Shades Darker when it hits theaters on 10 February 2017.
The final installment in the trilogy, Fifty Shades Freed, is scheduled for cinema release on 9 February 2018.
This film will be directed by James Foley, not by Sam Taylor-Johnson as originally planned. Variety reported that constant arguments with author EL James over the direction of Fifty Shades of Grey during its production forced Taylor-Johnson to reconsider her options.
The teaser has symbolic fireworks, a woman in high heels, Dornan smirking, and some non-specific soundtrack moaning. "Intrigued?" gasps Dornan's Christian Grey, taking Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johmson) by surprise.
The teaser’s description, which was released on 12 September 2016, reads: “As the two begin to build trust and find stability, shadowy figures from Christian’s past start to circle the couple, determined to destroy their hopes for a future together.”
Now, the question that has been on the minds of the fans of Fifty Shades Of Grey is: Will the movie be as dirty as the book? If the trailer is any indication the answer is a disappointing no.
EL James on achieving closure with Grey series, how Fifty Shades earned erotica more social acceptance
"I didn’t realise that people would want more. That was probably a little shortsighted of me," James said of the response to the Grey series.
Director Sam Taylor-Johnson, who directed the movie adaptation of EL James' erotic novel 'Fifty Shades of Grey', will not return to direct its sequel.
