The runway witnessed an electrifying fusion of beauty and fashion as Lakmé and Anamika Khanna opened FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week with Silver Collar which redefined power dressing for the modern woman. Leading the showcase, Lakmē Brand Ambassador Ananya Panday graced the runway, embodying the essence of Silver Collar with her effortless confidence and striking presence, perfectly bringing to life the synergy between beauty and fashion.
Talking about her collection in an EXCLUSIVE interview with Firstpost, Anamika Khanna said, “Like the name suggests, it’s a very interesting concept that we are working with. Basically we are suggesting women now are able to do what they want to do. It’s an elevated experience of the wardrobe from white collar to silver collar… it’s a kind of warrior feeling in the workplace. Besides that, it is a very interesting tribe that we worked with and took inspiration from. So, my thought was what would one of these tribal women bring into the city if they went to work with them.”
With bold silhouettes and a palette that echoed Lakmē breakthrough beauty formulas, AK|OK Anamika Khanna crafted a line that empowered the unstoppable working woman with style and confidence. Modern working woman is the central theme of Anamika Khanna’s collection. On being inspired by tribes, she says, “I believe in my country. We have such beautiful pockets in our country which has so much art and culture and heritage which no one in the world has. And there is no reason why we shouldn’t dip into it and make it into something which is relevant now. This is something that I have always done and will continue to do.”
Fashion is moving at a very rapid speed. We all wish that it doesn’t move that fast. Style is a very individual concept. On being asked about her take on fashion Vs style, Anamika explained**, “**I hope that fashion doesn’t move this fast. I hope people find the time to stop and go back to looking within themselves to figure this out. Because looking good is not about running after trends. Style is very individualistic, you can just take a piece and make it your own.”
Anamika believes in the revival of weaves. Earlier in an interview with Firstpost, she had mentioned, **“**I am going to be slightly biased here because I come from Bengal. I feel like there is a lot of textile from Bengal which is been ignored like jamdani which is so beautiful and somehow into the limelight because of its simplicity. I feel like there are lot other weaves in India that are getting a lot of attention, but jamdani isn’t getting that kind of attention that it truly deserves.”
