Weeks after he was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Gurugram for cardiac issues, renowned fashion designer Rohit Bal said he is healing. The 62-year-old is under the supervision of a team led by cardiologist Dr Praveen Chandra at the Medanta Hospital. In an Instagram post, Bal said the support from friends and family has been a guiding light for him during these testing times. “I am deeply touched by your outpouring of love and prayers during my illness. Your support has been a beacon of hope and strength, helping me on my journey to recovery,” he wrote.
“As I heal, I am reminded of the resilience of our bond and our shared dreams. Our brand remains strong, and I assure you, the show must go on. Your faith in our vision is the driving force behind its continued success,” the designer added. “Thank you for being my light in these challenging times. Let’s keep moving forward with hope and courage,” he concluded. Bal was reportedly on ventilator support. The fashion designer who has a pre-existing cardiac condition was initially taken to the Moolchand Hospital in the national capital, however, his condition deteriorated and he was rushed to Medanta. After being admitted to the hospital a few days back, he was recently put on ventilator support and was said to be in a critical condition. “His heart was and he was in an unconscious state. His pacemaker gave seven shocks. Initially, he was taken to the Moolchand. Later, when his condition deteriorated, he was taken to Medanta,” HT City reported citing close sources. The 62-year-old who had reportedly struggled with alcohol addiction had been in and out of rehab. In November last year, his condition took a turn for the worse, following which he was admitted to the Medanta hospital. A close friend of his opened up about his condition and said, “He was in a very bad state and was almost dead. The doctors had to flush out alcohol and sleeping pills from his system when he was rushed to the hospital.”
