Fantastic Beasts 2: Warner Bros unveils cast and story details of its upcoming film

When Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them released in 2016, fans were delighted because it meant a chance to continue with the world of Harry Potter. The film, which starred Eddie Redmayne as magizoologist Newt Scamander, opened to mixed reviews, but did brisk box office business — earning more than $800 million worldwide, as reported by Forbes — paving the way for a sequel. Variety said, “Fantastic Beasts does double-duty as yet another imagination-tickling fantasy adventure and a deeply troubled commentary on tolerance, fear, and bigotry in the world today.” [caption id=“attachment_3108110” align=“alignnone” width=“825”] ![Image courtesy: Facebook](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/fantastic_beasts_1.jpg) Image courtesy: Facebook[/caption] The film also starred Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler and Johnny Depp. The sequel’s development has been in the news ever since it was announced. In previous reports, Firstpost had informed that Johnny Depp (who featured as the evil wizard Gellert Grindelwald in the first part) and Jude Law (who is set to play Albus Dumbledore) have been roped by the studio. Now, Warner Bros has divulged some more details about the upcoming film, The Independent reports. The film is titled, as of now, Fantastic Beasts 2. Ezra Miller who played the character Credence in the original film, is reprising his part along with actress Zoë Kravitz who was seen (in a photograph) as Leta Lestrange. The film will also feature War and Peace actor Callum Turner as Newt’s older brother Theseus Scamander. South Korean actress Caludia Kim, who was last seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron, is also making an appearance as a “young woman we first meet as a featured attraction at a wizarding circus”. Other cast members in the film include William Nadylam as a wizard named Yusuf Kama, Ingvar Sigurdsson as a bounty hunter named Grimmson, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Skender, who runs the wizarding circus, and Kevin Guthrie as Abernathy, Tina and Queenie’s boss at MACUSA (Magical Congress of the USA). A report by Collider, carried this official synopsis of the upcoming film: “J.K. Rowling wrote the screenplay for the film, which opens in 1927, a few months after Newt helped to unveil and capture the infamous Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. However, as he promised he would, Grindelwald has made a dramatic escape and has been gathering more followers to his cause — elevating wizards above all non-magical beings. The only one who might be able to stop him is the wizard he once called his dearest friend, Albus Dumbledore. But Dumbledore will need help from the wizard who had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander. The adventure reunites Newt with Tina, Queenie and Jacob, but his mission will also test their loyalties as they face new perils in an increasingly dangerous and divided wizarding world.” According to The Independent, filming for Fantastic Beasts 2, directed by David Yates, has already started at Warner Bros Studios at Leavesden. The film is slated to release on 16 November 2018.
