EXCLUSIVE | Shriya Saran on 'Drishyam 3': 'Excited as they are writing it, I met Ajay Devgn at an event and asked him...'

Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran’s Drishyam might have been a remake but it has gone down as a cult film over the years. 2nd October is permanently etched in people’s minds. The first part came out in 2015 and the sequel in 2022, both becoming successes. And now the makers are taking the franchise ahead with part three.

In an exclusive interview with Firstpost, Shriya spilled the beans on her memories of shooting the first two films, and what we can expect in part three.

That’s not all, she will also be seen in an episode of Star vs Food Survival Season 2 featuring celebrity chef Ranveer Brar. And the promo suggests it’s going to be one adventurous ride for her and the viewers.

Edited excerpts from the interview

This is a cult franchise. So what are your memories of shooting both the Drishyams?

I was very amazed. It was lovely to work on the first one. It was a well written script. I was like ‘Wow, how everything is so beautifully interconnected and so beautifully explained.’ When I read part one and I still have visuals of how we’re shooting it. I have memories of how we did that whole film. And I’m so grateful to be a part of it. By the second time, I read the script and fell in love with it. The only difference is that in part one, I didn’t have Radha (her daughter) but she was already a year old when I was shooting for part two. Actually, she was 9 months old or 10 months old. And it was it was a beautiful time. She just started eating us all.

And I still remember I was shooting, and I got a call from home where she just said, ‘mama’, and I ran back home. And when they’re that young, they say mama, I forget about it. And then by the time I got home, she’d forgotten about it. I have beautiful memories of shooting for the film. I have very strong visual memory of how I was shooting the scenes and what I was doing then. It’ll be a film that’s very close to my heart forever.

What can we expect from Drishyam 3, and how excited are you?

I’m excited. They are writing it as we speak. I met Ajay Devgn at some event, and I’m like ‘Abhi kya hi likh denge and he said ‘Likh rahe hain,’ but that’s what I fell in part 2 also ki abhi kya hi likh lenge. But they’re writing it. I’m sure they’ll write something beautiful and it’ll be amazing.
