Slumdog Millionaire fame Freida Pinto attended the Red Sea International Film Festival and in an exclusive interview with Firstpost, spoke about coming back to the Red Sea, how cinema is changing and evolving in the last few years, and much more. Edited excerpts from the interview How does it feel to come back to the Red Sea International Film Festival ? It feels really good, it feels like coming back home for me because I’ve been in the Middle East for quite some time and also filmed for the first couple of years of my career. It feels amazing.
What do you have to say about cinema changing in India and your next project? I’m currently working on a project, and we’ll see if it shows in India or not. That’s the problem with everything I do, it doesn’t show in India. Come on India! More about this year’s Red Sea International Film Festival The Red Sea International Film Festival (Red Sea IFF), in partnership with VOX Cinemas, NEOM and the MBC GROUP, welcomed cinema lovers and the global film community to its third edition, which will run from 30 November – 9 December in Jeddah. Yasir Al Yasiri’s HWJN had its world premiere to kick off the festival, and the screening was attended by the director and lead cast: Nour Alkhadra, Baraa Alem, Naif Aldaferi, Alanoud Saud, Mohsen Mansour and Shaimaa Al Tayeb. Jury President Baz Lurhmann was in attendance with his jury – Joel Kinnaman, Freida Pinto, Amina Khalil, Paz Vega, Hana Alomair and Fatih Akin. The global film industry in attendance at the Festival’s Opening Ceremony from Saudi and GCC included stars and filmmakers such as: Yaacoub Alfarhan, Sara Taibah, Abdullah Alsadhan, Hira Mahmoud, Fatima Al-Banawi, Summer Shesha, Nayla Alkhaja, Hakeem Jomah, Hira Mahmood, Yasser Alsoghaf, Faysal Aldokhei, Ayman Khoja, Majed Z. Samman, Tawfik Alzaidi and many more.
