It’s more to do with Bollywood’s herd mentality than telling stories that resonate. Maybe there’s more to it then! Balaji Telefilms and Ellipsis Entertainment have joined forces with renowned news journalist Sudhir Chaudhary’s Essprit Productions for the high-octane political thriller, The Terror Report.
Just like URI and Dhurandhar , both helmed by Aditya Dhar, this drama too will be inspired by true events. Vishnu Varadhan, whose Shershaah emerged as one of the most widely celebrated patriotic films of recent years, will direct the fact-based thriller, which will draw from the devastating terror attacks against India and the nation’s hard and crushing retaliation.
Serving as a sequel to The Sabarmati Report , the feature expands the canvas to bare the continuing, unfinished story of India’s war against cross-border terror. Blending investigative intrigue, intelligence operations, and deep human stories, The Terror Report delves into the most recent, tragic and defining moments shaping the country’s modern security landscape.
Most of the films that have come out of Hindi cinema in the last few years bring to the celluloid the patriotic flavour and fervour. And this new project by Ektaa Kapoor is the latest addition. Not only URI and Dhurandhar 2, we have names like Chhaava, Gadar 2, and Border 2 as well.
More about The Terror Report
If you’ve watched Indian news over the last two decades, you’ve seen Chaudhary in moments when the country itself felt on edge. From the Kargil War to the 2008 Mumbai attacks, he was inside the churn of them, breaking them down night after night. That kind of exposure changes how you see a story. You stop thinking in headlines.

View AllWith The Terror Report forthcoming, directed by Vishnu Varadhan, that sensibility carries over. Backed by Balaji Telefilms and Ellipsis Entertainment, the film leans on his understanding of how terror is not about the mere event, but a chain reaction stemming from political, emotional and even human fallacies. You can sense that it’s coming from someone who has lived through the noise of breaking news.
