Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga trailer: Sonam Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao gear up for an unexpected love story

The trailer of the romance-drama Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, featuring Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Juhi Chawla and Rajkummar Rao, has been released. A new poster was unveiled on 26 December, where Sonam Kapoor described the film as “the most unexpected love story of 2019”. The first look poster was launched on Anil Kapoor’s birthday on 24 December.

In a meta-theatrical moment, the trailer begins with Rajkummar Rao narrating the tale of an ‘unexpected romance’ of a girl. As the girl grows up believing in fairy-tale romance, her garrulous father (Anil Kapoor) kickstarts the search for an ideal groom for his daughter. However, the seemingly perfect father-daughter relationship is strained when his daughter’s secret comes out in the open. The cryptic trailer puts the notion of love in question, as the family struggles to come to terms with the daughter’s choices in life. YouTube screengrab[/caption] Anil Kapoor shared the video clip with the hashtag, #LetLoveBe, captioning it as ‘See love in a new light’. The trailer urges audiences to stop discriminating against love on the basis of caste, gender, race and other binaries. This is the first time that the father-daughter duo Sonam and Anil Kapoor will be sharing screen space. In this context, the actress had said that though they have been offered a lot of films in the past, this one was apt for them to collaborate. She said, “I never found authenticity or idealism in any of the other films. I felt nobody besides me and my father (were apt) to do Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. We are glad to know that we were the first choice of the director”, as per an earlier report. The film produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani in association with Fox Star Studios will release on 1 February. Watch the trailer here:
