Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is turning out to be a success at the box-office. Directed by Milap Zaveri, the film stars Sonam Bajwa and Harshvardhan Rane. It released on October 21 and clashed at the ticket windows with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma. It has collected roughly Rs 41 crore so far and the collections are likely to grow over the week due to no competition.
While talking to Bollywood Hungama, the director spoke about it and said, “This proves the power of content and music. It shows the power of Harshvardhan Rane. Everyone underestimated him. He has always been loved, not just for Sanam Teri Kasam, but also for Taish, Haseen Dillruba, Tara vs Bilal, Dange etc.”
Rane, the leading man of the film, arrived at a multiplex to check the reaction of the film and thank the audience for their love on both his film and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Thamma.
The actor said, “This Diwali, you supported the films of two outsiders. Ayushmann Khurrana’s film has released along with mine. Watch both the films, please, and enjoy both. This sends a good message out that aap logon ne akele poora ka poora Bollywood se nepotism hi khatm kar diya (you people alone finished nepotism from the entire Bollywood)."
Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa starrer Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, which released during the Diwali period has raked in Rs 26.08 crore in 3 days at the box office. While the film is doing great business, the Milap Zaveri directorial has been garnering criticism for promoting ’toxicity'.
“No, a good movie, I guess not. Not respecting a woman’s consent, mental torture is named as deewaniyat. For me, it was ridiculous 👎. The sorry in the climax was not enough. You gave enough third-class content to the misogynous generation,” wrote a netizen.
