Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has found himself in a possible legal mess after he was sued for copyright infringement for his hit song ‘Thinking Out Loud’. The song, which featured on his sophomore album X had won two Grammys last year. [caption id=“attachment_2628060” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]

AP[/caption] There are allegations that Sheeran “lifted” melody, rhythm and compositions from Marvin Gaye’s 1973 hit ‘Let’s Get It On’. The 1973 hit by Gaye was co-written by him and Ed Townsend, and it is the latter’s heirs who are suing Sheeran for plagiarism. Sheeran found himself in the midst of another plagiarism suit earlier this year when
his song ‘Photograph’
, also from X, was accused of being copied from
Matt Cardle’s ‘Amazing’
. Songwriters Martin Harrington and Thomas Leonard sued Sheeran for copy infringement for 20 million in damages. In a twist, the songwriters hired the attorneys who were responsible for the 7.4 million dollar judgement against ‘Blurred Lines’ by Robin Thicke and Pharell. The judgments in the lawsuits against Sheeran are still pending. Listen to the songs here: Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’:
