Image courtesy: YouTube[/caption] Vishal Vyas, head of marketing, Skore Condoms had said to Economic Times, “We are thrilled by our latest association with Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo. This partnership launches our “Champion” line of products, an advanced range of condoms from the house of Skore. With Bravo and Gayle’s association, we now look at expanding our marketing efforts to cricket-loving youth.” The deal also involves the players recreating Bravo’s ‘Champion’ song for the Indian audience. The song that was launched just before the ICC World T20 this year became hugely popular among the masses. Chris Gayle had also featured with him in the original song. In August the brand began a Twitter contest #SKOREfeatDJBravo, to invite women to send entries to feature in the video. The winners got to dance in the Indian Champion song. With women dancing around them Bravo and Gayle seem to be having a lot of fun in the song. However the song is no fun for the audience to watch. The only indication that it has anything to do with a condom brand is the Skore Tshirt that the two cricketers wear. While the ad doesn’t follow the typical format of all condom ads of sensuality it doesn’t try anything new either. Is it enough to have some women dancing to a song with two famous cricketers to promote a brand? Speaking to RadioandMusic.com Chris Gayle said, “I’m always up for some fun and Skore offered me a great platform to shake a leg, party hard and talk about condoms. Being a Champion, to me, is breaking taboos, being vocal and more importantly, being responsible.” We will have to wait to see how far this song can take SKORE’s promotions with no creativity.
