The final episode of Dune is called The High-Handed Enemy. When you have so many complex characters and complicated storylines, especially when you happen to be in the final episode, you can be prepared for another season. And that’s exactly what’s going to happen with this show. Tabu made her debut in episode five as the mysterious Sister Francesca. There is something very enigmatic and evil about the actress. She always allows her eyes to do the talking. And even in this massively mounted international show, she successfully manages to hold her own.
What has happened so far?
Empress Natalya (Jodhi May) makes her move for power, while Princess Ynez (Sarah-Sofie Boussnina) tries to rescue Kieran Atreides (Chris Mason), even as the Sisterhood moves to put her on the throne. In a ruthless game of power, the lines are blurred and nobody happens to be a villain or a hero. You always have to make the first move and not be bothered about the consequences.
What Tabu said about her role
“I just got an email one day from my agents and my managers telling me that Alison and Anna were the showrunners and the directors on the show wanted to cast me for this particular role,” Tabu told Variety. She added, “just loved the character and the potential of this character. I knew that this is my world, and this I would enjoy doing.”
The show has been shot in Budapest, which represented grandeur in films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. But in _Dune_, it’s full of chaos and claustrophobia, both physically and emotionally. Most of the action is actually happening in these unlikable people’s minds. They all are twisted and unpredictable. But that doesn’t mean that the writing of the show is perfect. There are many instances when the narrative continuously drags its feet. But since this is not the end of the show we might get a little more coherence next season.
But to give the credit where it’s due, the makers get the atmospherics of the show spot on. Dressing the ladies in black has more meaning than just one. In this case, the colour of the dress could represent evil and darkness. But in the next season, let there be some light.
