Dulhania 3? Varun Dhawan-Janhvi Kapoor reunite for Karan Johar's 'Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari', fans miss Alia Bhatt

After impressing audiences with their chemistry and performance in Nitesh Tiwari’s Bawaal last year, Bollywood actors Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor are all set to come together for their second film with Dharma Productions. Filmmaker Karan Johar on Thursday announced the movie’s title along with an interesting teaser confirming the lead actors. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, known for headlining films like Dhadak and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, the film- now being called ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ will hit theatres on 18 April 2025.

According to the video, Janhvi Kapoor will essay the character of Tulsi Kumari while Varun Dhawan will feature as Sunny Sanskari in the upcoming rom-com.

While not many details have been revealed about the film or its storyline, the title teaser has already got the Internet talking. “Your Sunny Sanskari is on his way to get his Tulsi Kumari! This love story wrapped with entertainment is coming to the big screens! #SunnySanskariKiTulsiKumari in cinemas, 18th April 2025!” the caption read.

This came just a day after Karan Johar teased about Dharma Productions’ next love story. Taking to his IG story, the filmmaker shared a mysterious clip with a message that read, “Time for some guesses?! Stay tuned… This is full of well… sunshine!!!”

On the other hand, the lead actors Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor were also seen sharing the announcement video while expressing their excitement about collaborating with Shashank Khaitan for the film. For the unversed, Varun Dhawan has previously worked with the director on Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, while Janhvi Kapoor made her Bollywood debut with him in Dhadak.

Alia Bhatt replaced in Dulhania 3?

Believed to be the third instalment in Khaitan’s Dulhania franchise, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari replaces Alia Bhatt with Janhvi Kapoor, while retaining the OG actor. While many expressed excitement over the duo coming back on the big screen, a few seem unhappy with Alia’s replacement.

A fan commented, “The fact that the name has ki and is directed by Shashank makes me fear they’ve replaced Alia from that franchise,” while another one remarked, “Is this supposed to be Dulhania 3 in an “exciting and repackaged way” I’m superrr excited to see Varun in this but pls tell me this isn’t that and Varia is still gonna come back.”

“Missed ALIAAA but anyways lots of love,” a third user commented.

Janhvi Kapoor made a cameo in Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon starrer Teri Baaton Mein Aise Uljha Jiya. Prior to that, her last major appearance was also alongside Varun Dhawan in Bawaal. The film received a critical reception and appreciation from the audience. Meanwhile, she has a few other projects including Ulajh, Mr and Mrs Mahi, and Telugu film Devara.

Varun Dhawan, on the other hand, has Baby John and an Indian adaptation of the action thriller web series Citadel in the pipeline.
