The international music industry continues to witness significant changes with more females standing tall alongside male artists to achieve huge milestones. While global icons like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and Nicki Minaj were already redefining the music scene with their impeccable talent, Dua Lipa has become a new entrant to the list as her name gets listed in history books.

Dua has become the first female artist ever with her four songs surpassing 2 billion streams on Spotify. She achieved this milestone after her chartbuster song ‘Levitating’ became her fourth track to surpass 2 billion streams on the music platform.

In December 2023, Spotify reported that multiple songs by Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo, along with Dua Lipa , exceeded 2 billion streams. Moving forward to March 2024, Dua becomes the sole female artist with four songs surpassing the mark on the platform. The singer’s impressive lineup of songs that made her achieve the feat include Don’t Start Now with 2,512,405,872 streams, One Kiss with 2,075,920,299 streams, New Rules with 2,035,524,550 streams, and Levitating, which recently touched the 2 billion mark.

Earlier in February, Dua opened the Grammy season with a high-octane performance as she debuted her new song Training Season. Following the same, she also crooned her most recent single Houdini, and then her disco-pop Barbie hit Dance the Night. Notably, Houdini was released last year in November. On the other hand, her song Dance the Night earned two Grammy nominations.

After debuting it at the 2024 Grammy Awards, Dua went on to officially release her song Training Season in mid-February. The single was co-written by the pop icon herself along with Caroline Ailin, Danny L Harle, Tobias Jesso Jr., and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker who also contributed to her track Houdini. The song was co-produced by Harle and Parker.

Known for her unique songs which are usually a blend of pop, R&B, and dance music, Lipa has many awards and accolades on her name, including a few Grammies. Her music, mainly influenced by various eras, including 1970s disco, 1980s pop, and 1990s club music, has garnered her an immense fan following across the world.
