Downton Abbey movie first look, plot details revealed; Michelle Dockery calls it 'an extension of the series'
The Downton Abbey movie will take place 18 months after the conclusion of the original series

The first look images from the movie version of Downton Abbey have been released via Entertainment Weekly, along with details regarding the plot.
As per EW, the story of the film takes place 18 months after the conclusion of the original series, and is set in the autumn of 1927.
According to director Michael Engler, the film will begin at a juncture where Mary ( played by Michelle Dockery) and her sister Edith (played by Laura Carmichael) are slowly adjusting to their married life, and Mary's love life, for once, is not in turmoil. Furthermore, Tom Branson (Allan Leech), who had relocated to America before returning to Downton, will be seen still running his successful automobile business alongside Mary’s husband Henry.
Michelle Dockery, as per the same report, said that Downton Abbey movie will retain the same flavour as the series. "It’s more of the characters [people] love. It really is an extension of the series, but on a grander scale." she was quoted as saying.
