Does Shreya Ghoshal get bothered by actors singing in films? Singer cites Alia Bhatt's example: 'She rendered her vocals and...'

Bollywood stars have now turned to singing as well and this has been the case since the 90s and in certain cases, much before that. While speaking to SpotBoyE many years ago, singer Shreya Ghoshal opened up if it bothers her.

She said, “That has happened with me just once, which was Samjhawan from Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. I understand that people do it for promotion. It doesn’t hamper me. Maybe it’s only to get the cash registers ringing. But when someone thinks of the song, the first names to crop up would be Shreya and Arijit. Like the producer, director and the actors, the audience too is aware of the fact that Alia rendered her vocals for the promotion of the film.”

She added, “I have always given my heartfelt encouragement to new artists. At times, if I hear a song and if I have access to the artiste, I pickup my phone and make it a point to appreciate him/ her. Sunidhi Chauhan and I have done that quite a few times. I am fine with people taking inspiration from me as long as eventually they find their own voice.”

Shreya Ghoshal  began singing by the age of 11. She was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s discovery. They collaborated for his magnum opus Devdas in 2002 and reunited for the ballad _Sukoon_ . It has been two decades and the association is still as soothing and solid.
