He had been running a fever for two days, a family friend, Udaya Tara Nayar, tol_d IANS_.

While news of Kumar’s hospitalisation sent shock waves through the industry, hospital sources told the Indian Express that the actor’s condition was stable.

“Various tests are being conducted at the moment. To situation should be clearer by Thursday,” a spokesperson at Lilavati  told the Indian Express.

Kumar was admitted to Lilavati in just December 2016, after developing a fever and swelling in his limbs. However, the actor was discharged within a day as his condition had stabilised. Last seen on the big screen in Qila in 1998, the actor was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015. Known for films like Devdas, Mughal-e-Azam and Karma, Dilip Kumar got married to Saira — over 20 years younger to him — in 1966. (With inputs from IANS)
