"He has been hospitalised today (Wednesday) morning. He complained of swelling in his right leg," Saira Banu's manager Murshid told IANS.

The 94-year-old actor is under observation. He took to Twitter to post a series of tweets to confirm that he is doing fine and expressed gratitude towards his well-wishers on the micro blogging site.

However, this is not the first time that he has been admitted to the hospital this year.

According to a report by The Indian Express, Kumar was admitted to the same hospital this past April for the treatment of severe fever and nausea. He was discharged from the medical facility after five days.

Kumar's encounter with health issues dates back to years ago. BBC reports that he was rushed to the same hospital three years ago when he suffered a heart attack. Much to the relief of the entire nation, the doctors claimed that Kumar's condition was stable and he was subsequently discharged from the hospital a few days later.

In another sudden visit to the hospital, Kumar was kept under observation for days after he complained of chest infection in 2014, as per a report by the Times of India. The same reports states that his physician had explained that Kumar suffers from bronchopneumonia so his condition gets serious if he suffers from common cold for even a few days.

While the entire nation, including the Hindi film industry, pray for the thespian's speedy recovery, the actor has also been in news in the past couple of years for completing his autobiography titled The Substance and the Shadow. He was also awarded the second highest civilian honour of the country, Padma Vibhushan, in 2015.

However, the veteran actor has not been keeping well for years now and was last seen in Umesh Mehra's film Qila in 1998, in which he played a double role.
