Malayalam film stars Dileep and Kavya Madhavan tied the knot on Friday morning, 25 November 2016, at a private ceremony in Kochi. The ceremony was reportedly held at a five-star hotel in the city, and came as a surprise to all but the couple's close friends and family, since details had been kept tightly under wraps.
Kavya wore the simple cream and gold sari favoured by Malayali brides, while Dileep also wore a white mundu and shirt. The ceremony was carried out in a fairly simple manner.
Dileep and Kavya are a popular onscreen pair, having acted in more than 20 films together. Rumours of their relationship had been doing the rounds for a while, although both actors had denied being a couple. In an interview in August this year, Dileep even said "only time will tell" when he was asked if Kavya and he planned to tie the knot.
Apparently, the many celebrity attendees — including actors Mammootty, Meera Jasmine, Jayaram — were informed about the wedding ceremony only on Thursday night.
Dileep's daughter Meenakshi (from his first marriage to actress Manju Warrier, which lasted from 1998 to 2015) was also present at the ceremony. She reportedly told mediapersons gathered at the venue that she was very happy for her father and Kavya.
Kavya was also briefly married to entrepreneur Nishal Chandra in February 2009, and she moved out of India to be with her husband. However, she soon returned to India and by 2010, filed for divorce.
Kavya and Dileep have both previously denied that their relationship caused the breakdown in either of their marriages.
An hour before his nuptials, Dileep went live on Facebook with this short video message for his fans:
Sunny addresses a question not many of us have thought to ask during the COVID-19 pandemic: what might quarantine be for a person who has (or at least believes he has) given up on life?
"Why should I let go of my characters? They're all there in some corner of my mind. When I close my eyes, the characters come to my mind. They are that accessible," says Jayasurya on completing 100 films.
Jayasurya's Sunny will release on Amazon Prime Video India on 23 September.
