In the entertainment industry, very few actors possess the deadly combination of great acting chops and amazing good looks and Saravanan Sivakumar aka Suriya is definitely one of them. Born on July 23, 1975, the Kollywood star is one of the highest-paid actors in Indian cinema. In his illustrious career, Suriya has won two National Film Awards and six Filmfare Awards South. The Jai Bhim actor has also featured six times in the Celebrity 100 list of Forbes India. Born to film star Sivakumar, Suriya started his acting career in 1997 at the age of 22 with Nerruku Ner, which was bankrolled by Mani Ratnam. Before entering the industry, the actor worked in a garment factory for a few months, where he kept his identity a secret and no one knew about his star father but later his boss came to know the truth. While his first breakthrough role came in 2001 in Nandha, he got his major success with Kaakha Kaakha, which released in 2023. The film featured his now-wife Jyotika. The name Suriya was given to the actor by filmmaker Mani Ratnam because he did not want his name to clash with another actor named Saravanan. The actor later gave blockbusters in the form of Singham series, Ghajini, Aayutha Ezhuthu, 24, Soorarai Pottru, Jai Bhim and many others.
On the work front, Suriya is busy with filmmaker Siruthai Siva’s Kanguva. The director has delivered blockbusters like Annaatthe, Viswasam, Vedalam and others. The film also stars Jagapathi Babu, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, Anandaraj, Ravi Raghavendra, K. S. Ravikumar and B. S. Avinash. It marks the Tamil debut of Bollywood stars Disha Patani and Bobby Deol. It is produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja, V.
