Did you know Anil Kapoor, Sridevi & Raveena Tandon's Laadla team chanted Gayatri mantra after Divya Bharti's death?

The legendary actress of the entertainment industry, Sridevi delivered several memorable characters in her illustrious career and among them was her portrayal of Laadla, where she played young and arrogant industrialist Sheetal Jaitly.

However, you will be surprised to know that she was the first choice for the movie. Divya Bharti, who was the original heroine of the film, shot almost 90 per cent of Laadla but her sudden demise sent shockwaves across the industry.

Later, the makers began to reshoot the movie with Sridevi and other leads Anil and Raveena also had to reshoot their parts since the Sadma actress replaced Bharti.

However, peculiar things started to happen on the set with strange incidents occurring now and then. There was a scene with Shakti Kapoor, Raveena and Divya Bharti, where the latter fumbled a lot during a scene and took numerous takes. And unusually, the same thing happened when Sridevi too stumbled in the same spot during the exact scene which left Shakti and Raveena speechless.

‘Divya, Shakti Kapoor, and I had shot a scene in Aurangabad in which she fired us from the job. Divya had to retake numerous takes of this scene since she kept getting stuck on a piece of conversation while filming. We were filming the same scene in the same office with Sridevi around six months later. That was very peculiar since Sridevi kept getting stuck in the same line again and again. We all had goosebumps," said Raveena in a media interaction.

After seeing this situation, Shakti Kapoor proposed that the team recite the Gayatri Mantra and purify the set by breaking a coconut.

Directed by Raj Kanwar, _Laadla_ featured Sridevi and Anil Kapoor, while Raveena Tandon, Anupam Kher, Farida Jalal, Shakti Kapoor, Prem Chopra, Aruna Irani, Mohnish Bahl, and Paresh Rawal play supporting roles.
