It was around 2017 when Ranbir Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees co-star Mahira Khan met each other and certain pictures of the duo went viral on social media. And now, a fan on Reddit claims the actress’ chat with an unknown account on X was none other than with Ranbir himself.
The name of the handle was Reymar1528, and the numbers represent his and his wife Alia Bhatt’s dates of birth. Here’s the chat that was shared by the said user on Reddit:
Mahira Khan had opened up about battling manic depression over the years. In a conversation with FWhy Podcast, the 38-year-old revealed how her mental health went downhill after she worked opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Rahul Dholakia’s Raees . The same year, she faced a lot of backlash after a photo featuring her smoking with Ranbir Kapoor went viral. Mahira further described how the two events, in conjunction with Pakistani actors getting banned from working in India after the Uri attack, took a substantial toll on her health.

As per an official statement by Kapoor, the actor had this to say about the entire controversy — “I’ve gotten to know Mahira in a personal capacity over the last few months. She is somebody who I admire and respect, for her achievements and even more for the person she is. It is very unfair the way she is being judged and spoken about. What is also sad is the inequality in judgment just because she is a woman. I request you to stop the negativity and move on with your beautiful god gifted lives. Peace and love. PS - Both smoking and hate are injurious to health.” This was back in 2017.
Singer and actor Ali Zafar took to his social media profiles to share an open letter coming out in defense of the actor. Varun Dhawan said “Shame on them for shaming her," according to an Indian Express report. Parineeti Chopra too spoke up against how unfair the entire situation was. “I’ll just say one line. It’s a little unfair. Everybody knows it’s unfair and it’ll stop. Today, because of social media, everything becomes too big a deal," said Chopra, according to a Hindustan Times report.
