But now, in a coup of sorts, Bejoy has managed to get Dhanush, who will be replacing Vicky in the film. Dhanush will be playing the role that Karthik essayed in the original, while Harshvardhan will be playing Prabhu’s role. The actresses are yet to be finalised.” Rumour mills are suggesting that Vicky Kaushal rejected the film as he is busy with other projects during the planned shooting schedule of August to October. However, there has been no confirmation on the news from Dhanush’s side yet. The original Mani Ratnam film was a great success and even received the Filmfare award for the Best Tamil Film that year. Even earlier the film was remade in Hindi as Vansh starring Siddharth and Sudesh Berry. Directed by Pappu Verma, it turned out to be a major dud at the box office and went largely unnoticed. Dhanush, who celebrates his birthday on Thursday, has several other projects in his kitty like Yennai Nokki Paayum Thotta, Vada Chennai and Kodi. Meanwhile, the Kolaveri Di star is awaiting the audio launch of the upcoming Telugu film Thikka, in which he has song the title track. With inputs from IANS
