Delhi HC pulls up Race 2 makers for content

New Delhi: Expressing displeasure over certain contents of the movie Race 2, the Delhi High Court today pulled up the film makers for teaching “indiscipline” to children. “You are always into your business.. Please sit and think where the film industry is going. You have earned so much money. You are teaching indiscipline to the children. “You are taking everything to the drawing room…,” a division bench of Chief Justice D Murugesan and Justice V K Jain observed while hearing a PIL against alleged exhibition of nudity and vulgarity in the movie starring Saif Ali Khan. [caption id=“attachment_668443” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Courtesy: ibn live ](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/race_3802.jpg) Courtesy: ibn live[/caption] The court’s observation came after the counsel appearing for the producers and director of the film Race 2 opposed the PIL and said that the Central Film Certification Board (CBFC) has cleared the release of the film. Meanwhile, issuing notices to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, CBFC, Delhi government and the director of the movie, the bench sought their response by Friday. The PIL was filed by Teena Sharma, a social worker, who has sought an immediate ban on further screening of the film in movie halls and its telecast on television channels as well besides deletion of nude scenes and vulgar dialogues before grant of permission to screen it again. Earlier, the bench had directed the central government to look into the issue raised by Sharma and take a decision within 15 days. Being aggrieved by the “inaction” on the part of the government, the petitioner approached the court again. In her plea, Sharma said that she has been raising voice against several social issues including crimes against women and was personally deeply hurt by the nude scenes and double meaning dialogues after viewing the film in a theatre. Sharma submitted that the film, which has seen screened in 50 countries, has been graded as an adult movie in 40 nations, while here it has been granted U/A certification. In her plea, she has alleged that “obscenity and vulgarity had been injected into the film arbitrarily as it had no relevance to the theme of the film.” She has said “the certification of the film in the U/A category by the censor board is not only against its guidelines but is an irresponsible act…” PTI
