Court, a Marathi film by Chaitanya Tamhane was chosen as India’s official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 88th Academy Awards on Wednesday. [caption id=“attachment_2444186” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]

According to reports
, the other front runners for the entry were PK, Masaan, Mary Kom, Haider, Kaaka Muttai, Baahubali and Kuttram Kadithal. Featuring impactful performances by actors Vivek Gomber, Vira Sathidar, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Pradeep Joshi, Usha Bane and Shirish Pawar, the movie did its fair share of rounds at foreign movie galas after premiering at the 71st Venice International Film Festival last year. The jury’s selection of Court received the seal of approval from Bollywood.
But there were some people who were not happy with Court’s selection for the Oscars and wanted Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan to be sent instead!
Meanwhile, there were lots and lots of jokes about Court and Salman Khan
However, Indian Twitteratti were largely pleased with the selection of the National Award winning film.
