Ahead of the Mumbai concert, Coldplay’s Chris Martin visited Shri Babulnath Temple along with girlfriend actress Dakota Johnson to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.

While Chris Martin wore a blue kurta, Dakota donned a beautifully printed cotton suit and covered her head with a dupatta.

And as the band member performed on stage, he chanted Jai Shree Ram and the video has gone viral. He also said ‘Shukriya’ to all his fans.

He also said sorry to Indian fans for British colonialism and said, “Thank you for forgiving us for all the bad things that Britain does.” He also said, “This is our fourth visit to India, and the second time to play. First time we played a long show and we could not have asked for a better audience. Thank you for coming today, everybody!”

The singer added, “It is amazing to us that you welcome us even though we are from Great Britain. Thank you for forgiving us for all of the bad things that Great Britain has done.”

During their temple visit, Dakota also whispered a prayer into Nandi’s ear, which is one of the Hindu rituals symbolising the pursuit of blessings for one’s desires.

Coldplay’s first Mumbai concert is set to take place at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The three-day event on 18, 19 &  21 January, is expected to draw around 70,000 attendees.

The band consists of vocalist and pianist Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, drummer and percussionist Will Champion, and manager Phil Harvey.

Post Mumbai, the band will perform in Ahmedabad, which will take place on 26th January. The concert will also stream on Disney+ Hotstar.
