Chappell Roan's security alleges footballer Jorginho's 11-year-old daughter of 'harassment', soccer pro hits back

A controversy involving footballer Jorginho and pop star Chappell Roan has sparked global debate after the player accused the singer’s security team of reducing his 11-year-old stepdaughter to tears during an incident in São Paulo.

The child in question is reportedly Ada Law, daughter of actor Jude Law and singer Catherine Harding.

What exactly happened?

According to Jorginho, the incident took place at a hotel in São Paulo, where both his family and Chappell Roan were staying during the Lollapalooza Brasil weekend, as reported by several media portals.

He claimed his daughter, a fan of Roan, simply walked past the singer’s table at breakfast to confirm it was her and smiled, without asking for a photo or interaction. However, the situation allegedly escalated when a security guard approached the child and her mother in what Jorginho described as an “extremely aggressive manner,” accusing them of harassment and disrespect.

“I went through a very upsetting situation with my family earlier today. My wife is in São Paulo for Lollapalooza Brasil. This morning, my daughter woke up incredibly excited. She even made a sign because she was so happy to see an artist she really admires, or used to admire.  By coincidence, they’re staying at the same hotel as this artist. During breakfast, the artist walked past their table. My daughter, like any child, recognised her, got excited, and just wanted to make sure it was really her,” Jorginho wrote of Roan, as per People.

He added, “And the worst part is she didn’t even approach her. She simply walked past the singer’s table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum. She didn’t say anything, didn’t ask for anything.”

He continued, “A large security guard came over to their table while they were still having breakfast and began speaking in an extremely aggressive manner to both my wife and my daughter, saying that she shouldn’t allow my daughter to ‘disrespect’ or ‘harass’ other people.”

The footballer said the confrontation left his daughter “extremely shaken” and in tears.

“Honestly, I don’t know at what point simply walking past a table and looking to see if someone is there can be considered harassment,” the soccer pro continued, alleging that the security guard “even said he would file a complaint against them with the hotel, while my 11-year-old daughter was sitting there in tears. My daughter was extremely shaken and cried a lot.”

Jorginho’s reaction: “It was just a child admiring someone”

Jorginho publicly criticised the singer, saying the response was disproportionate and unnecessary. He emphasised that his daughter had not crossed any boundaries and was simply excited to see an artist she admired. He also called for reflection on how celebrities treat fans, especially children.

His wife, Catherine Harding, also backed the claims, sharing posts about the incident.

Where does Jude Law come in?

The controversy drew additional attention because the child involved is the daughter of Jude Law. Jorginho’s wife Catherine Harding had the child with Law. However, the actor himself has not publicly commented on the incident so far.

Chappell Roan’s side

As of now, Chappell Roan has not directly addressed the allegations. Interestingly, during her performance at Lollapalooza Brasil, the singer publicly thanked her security team, even as the controversy was unfolding, though it remains unclear whether she was aware of the accusations at the time.

Roan has previously been vocal about maintaining strict boundaries with fans and paparazzi, often calling out behaviour she perceives as intrusive.
