Actor-politician Vijayakanth died on Thursday at a private hospital in Chennai. The actor was admitted to MIOT Hospital and put on ventilator support. The 71-year-old’s condition deteriorated due to pneumonia and despite doctors’ best efforts, he couldn’t survive. The DMDK chief was earlier admitted to the hospital in November due to respiratory issues but was discharged a few weeks later. Fondly called Captain, all the morning shows in theatres across Tamil Nadu were cancelled to honour the yesteryear star. As soon as the news came out, fans along with celebrities also mourned his passing and paid heartfelt tributes.
