_Bumblebee_, the Tranformers spinoff, is running strong over the international box office. The film has raked in another $35.6 million from 64 markets. According to

Image via Twitter[/caption] Variety further writes that the film has managed to sustain itself at the box office despite ticket sales being below even the worst reviewed instalments in the franchise. The film opened in Philippines this weekend and grossed $2.2 million. In China, the film raked in $24.8 million, followed by $1.3 million in the United Kingdom. It is scheduled to release in Japan on 22 March. Set in the year 1987, the film follows Hailee Steinfeld as Charlie Watson, who becomes the new owner of a yellow Volkswagon Beetle, only to discover that it is a battle-scarred and broken Autobot in disguise. She nurses him back to health and they team up to save the world from Decepticons, also crossing paths with a government agency Sector 7, headed by Burns, played by John Cena. Besides Steinfeld and Cena, the film’s cast also includes Pamela Adlon, Stephen Schneider, Jason Drucker and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. Distributed in India by Viacom18 Motion Pictures, Bumblebee released on 21 December.
Bumblebee is the first Transformer film not helmed by Michael Bay.
