British singer Sir Elton John enters the EGOT club after winning the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award

British Singer Sir Elton John is now the 19th artist in the world to join the coveted EGOT club. What exactly is this club? This club is for all the artists in the world that have been awarded the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and the Tony award. Elton John won the Grammy award in 2001, the Oscars in 1994, and the Tony award in the year 2000. He won Oscars for his work on Can You Feel the Love Tonight from _The Lion King_ in 1994 and (I’m Gonna) Love Me Again from Rocketman in 2020. Elton had also won a Tony for his original score on Aida in 2000. John couldn’t participate in the ceremony due to a knee surgery and his husband David Furnish and producer Ben Winston collected the award on his behalf. Furnish had to say something on this honor bestowed on his husband. He said, “I am not Elton John , sadly he had a knee op. He’s absolutely fine but wanted to send his love and thanks to the Television Academy for this incredible award. We knew this show would be historic, because it was going to be Elton’s last ever show in North America on tour. We knew it would be historic because it was Disney’s first live global stream.” He added, “We didn’t know it would be historic because it was going to win a man, who has created the soundtrack to our lives, he’s done so much great for society, who is all of our hero. We didn’t know it would win him an Egot.” Photos of iconic celebrities and historic moments from the collection of Elton John and David Furnish will go on display at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum this year. The images, many of which have never been on public display, will be on show from May 18, 2024, until Jan. 5, 2025. The exhibition will include portraits of stars including Marilyn Monroe, Miles Davis and Chet Baker, and photojournalism from historic moments including the Black civil rights movement of the 1960s, 1980s AIDS activism and the Sept. 11 attack.
