Bradley Cooper, a favourite for Best Actor for his directorial debut A Star Is Born, lost the award to Rami Malek, who played Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut A Star Is Born was a favourite once the Golden Globes 2019 nominees were declared. Having received nominations in five distinct categories including Best Actor, Best Picture and Best Actress, the Lady Gaga-starrer managed to bag the award for only the Best Original Song , for ‘Shallow’. Cooper, however, seemed least perturbed with the Best Actor loss to Rami Malek ( _ Bohemian Rhapsody )_, adding that Malek is an incredible actor, state reports . The actor expressed his admiration for co-stars Sam Elliott, Dave Chappelle, Anthony Ramos and Andrew Dice Clay, stating that “it was really a director’s dream to have actors give all of themselves.” A Star Is Born is the fourth remake of the classic romantic film which was released in 1937. The narrative follows the story of a popular music veteran Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper), who falls in love with a struggling artist Ally (Lady Gaga). While Maine helps Ally gain fame and make a mark for herself, he himself suffers from acute alcoholism, which affects his personal career badly.
