Box office report: Amitabh Bachchan’s Pink maintains a steady run with over 30 cr

It’s a double celebration for Pink – the film, which has been lauded by critics across all quarters for its powerful message, is running rock-steady at the box office too. As per trade reports, the Shoojit Sircar production, which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang, has collected Rs 32.67 crore since its release on Friday, 16 September.

#Pink Fri 4.32 cr, Sat 7.65 cr, Sun 9.54 cr, Mon 3.78 cr, Tue 3.51 cr, Wed 3.87 cr. Total: ₹ 32.67 cr. India biz. EXCELLENT!

The film may have started on a slow note on Friday but picked up steam owing to its strong word of mouth. After seeing a surge in the collections over Saturday and Sunday, Pink managed to garner impressive numbers on weekdays too. Essentially a courtroom drama, the Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury-directed venture boldly brings to the fore the idea that a woman’s consent is paramount to a relationship or sex, and that men should respect it. Given the socially relevant message that the film sends out, Sircar is keen that his production be made tax-free . He said, “People have been asking us to make it tax free. I think we are on the verge of making it tax free.” With Riteish Deshmukh and Nargis Fakhri starrer Banjo being the only big Bollywood release tomorrow, there’s little reason why Pink shouldn’t continue to make waves.
