View AllHow It compares with other releases, especially Dhurandhar
Border 2 has emerged as one of the standout box office performers so far in 2026, especially when compared with other January releases. Films that opened earlier in the month have posted more modest numbers, while Border 2’s extended weekend run has put it in a stronger commercial position.
When compared the biggest film from last year, Dhurandhar, Border 2 seems to have beaten it as well. According to Sacnilk, Border 2 registered occupancy of 31.46% during the morning shows on day 3. The official Day 3 numbers of the film is also much higher than Dhurandhar, which collected Rs 44.80 crore on Day 3.
It now needs to be seen how the film performs on Republic Day Monday, traditionally a strong day for theatrical revenue in India. Continued momentum could see the film approach or surpass key weekend milestones and establish itself as one of the early major hits of 2026.
Why Border 2 Is resonating
The sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border carries forward its predecessor’s legacy with large-scale war sequences, an ensemble cast and emotional storytelling. Its release during a national holiday period has amplified public interest, particularly among audiences seeking big-screen, performance-driven cinema.
