A day after Rajkumar Hirani was accused of sexual assault by a female employee working on Sanju, Boney Kapoor has come out in support of the director, stating that he is “too good a man to do something like this,” reports DNA.
Hirani’s frequent collaborators Dia Mirza and Sharman Joshi also described him as one of the most decent people they have worked with in the Hindi film industry.
Commenting on the allegation, actor Rakesh Bedi said that #MeToo has become a trend and everyone is coming up with new allegations on a daily basis. “It is wrong if something like this has happened. Some proof should be provided if something like this has taken place. #MeToo has become a trend where people are coming up with new allegations every day,” he stated, as per the same report.
In an article on HuffPost India , the accuser alleged that Hirani sexually abused her more than once between March and September 2018. She detailed her allegations in an email dated 3 November, 2018, to Sanju’s co-producer and Hirani’s business associate Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
Hirani, however, has denied all charges . “I want to very strongly state that this is a false, malicious and mischievous story being spread with the sole intention of destroying my reputation,” Hirani said in a statement.
