Vicky Kaushal to play commander-in-chief in film on Uri attacks produced by Ronnie Screwvala

Vicky Kaushal’s filmography has an interesting range of projects, from Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana and Masaan to Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi, which he recently began working for. Now it has emerged that he will also play the protagonist in a film produced by Ronnie Screwvala, which centers on the Uri attack of 2016. Image from Facebook/@MasaanTheFilm[/caption] Kaushal will play the commander-in-chief who led the surgical strike against suspected militants in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), reports Mumbai Mirror. The film will tell the story of those tumultuous 11 days, and will be helmed by debutant director Aditya Dhar. “With this single military action, we changed the fabric of our border politics and that became a watershed moment in our political history. But most importantly, Uri is the incredible story of Indians coming together,” said Screwvala. Kaushal seconded the producer’s sentiments, calling the operation ‘one of the Indian army’s best’. He said that the film is both a great responsibility and opportunity, as he feels that the surgical strike was carried with bravery and efficiency. This untitled film is likely to roll in early 2018. To prepare for the role, Vicky Kaushal says that he will have to bulk up and undergo paramilitary training. It will mark his second collaboration with Screwvala; they previously worked together on Love Per Square Foot directed by Anand Tiwari. Love Per Square Foot is a rom-com will release on 20 April, 2018, reports DNA. Kaushal’s role in Raazi, where he stars opposite Alia Bhatt, is also of an Indian Army officer. Bhatt will play a Kashmiri spy, and this film is set against the backdrop of the 1971 war.
