Tanu Weds Manu 3: Kangana's spokesperson says she's signed the film, Aanand L Rai denies it
Kangana Ranaut's spokesperson confirms a U-turn from Kangana Ranaut regarding Tanu Weds Manu 3 but the director Aanand L Rai says he has a film with Dhanush
The third installment of Aanand L Rai's romantic comedy Tanu Weds Manu franchise seems to be in a limbo as the director and the lead actress Kangana Ranaut have issued contrasting statements on its status.
The Indian Express quotes Kangana's spokesperson, confirming that she has signed Tanu Weds Manu 3, "Yes, Kangana has confirmed this and will be meeting Anand L Rai after she is done with Manikarnika." This reported development comes days after Kangana announced that she will work only in films directed by herself post her next, Krish's historical Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi.
However, given the ill fate of her latest film, Hansal Mehta's slice-of-life entertainer Simran, at the box office, there is a strong possibility that Kangana is planning a U-turn and returning to the franchise that fetched her a National Award.
On the other hand, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted that Aanand has confirmed that Tanu Weds Manu 3 is certainly not in the pipeline. While he is currently directing Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif for his next, he is all set to collaborate with his Raanjhana star Dhanush for the film post that.
Aanand L Rai clarifies: #TanuWedsManu3 is definitely not happening. I do have something else in the pipeline with Dhanush.

There might be an equally strong possibility that Aanand may not be willing to collaborate with Kangana again, given two big flops she has delivered this year - Vishal Bhardwaj's period drama Rangoon and Simran. Irrespective of the reason, Aanand has confirmed that Tanu Weds Manu 3 is not happening.
